The project of free CMS for web developers that I’m developing will not be available in its first version this month as I had announced. Why? Just because I’m very busy with my clients
Currently, I develop a website for a service enterprise. To develop this site I use TavuxSiteBuilder, which allows me to fine-tune the CMS to the first version will be a real version, stable, ready for production (on other servers than mine).
Here is a list of some of its features:
MVC Framework
Ability to create multiple websites on a server from a single installation of TavuxSiteBuilder
User interface allowing the user to edit the content of its website (configuration, menu and page content for the moment)
Websites and administration interfaces customizable (appearance and functionalities)
Multilingual Support
…
Note that all the sites I’ve done this year were from this CMS PHP5/Smarty. The latest (in production) is bim.im.
TavuxSiteBuilder added in its first version on 1 November 2009. An official website has been established, but its content is very poor at the moment. It is supposed to describe the CMS, propose downloads, submit support proposes by Tavux and allow access to developer documentation (wiki). This site is also powered by TavuxSiteBuilder (except wiki). I hope also that the documentation is ready for that date, but I guarantee nothing
Some sites allow us to communicate via limited characters statutes, like Twitter or Facebook. To publish URLs in a status, there are services that offer to reduce the URLs to share as well. Among these services, here’s mine: http://bim.im. It is simple but has an API, via some functions, for use in external applications.
There will certainly additions about new features. Please use it and submit your ideas!
Google Chrome OS is the future operating system from Google. This system will be, according to its creators, as light as possible and its use closely related to Internet browsing through GoogleChrome browser and Google online services (Gmail, Gtalk, Googledocs, etc.).. It is therefore intended to netbooks and should be released in the second half of 2010.
However, it seems that images of the future operating system are available on the net.
As I wrote in one of my previous articles, I have a netbook on which I installed Kubuntu. Everything works fine but Firefox seems a little too heavy for this kind of machines That’s why I decided to try another web browser lighter. So I tried Chromium, cross-platform browser developed by Google. Not to be confused with Chrome, another browser from Google. Chrome is from Chromium but it is a proprietary software, while Chromium is free. That’s why, this article is about Chromium, not Chrome.
In recent days, some changes have appeared on the blog. These changes relate to the appearance but also new features.
Among these changes are:
Modification of the provision of information on the sidebar, making the content richer.
Appearance of information for me on various social networks
Possibility to vote for an article
All responses to an article on Twitter, are automatically transformed into a new comment for the article
Possibility, when writing a commentary, it is also posted on your Twitter profile.
In addition, new articles should appear about my projects. I think especially of my CMS TavuxSiteBuilder which should be released for the first stable version in the end of August.
In the previous article, I present some applications and services related to Twitter. Here is one more. Tweeroom is an instant messanging service using your Twitter account to work. Explanations.
Tweeroom is a new service related to Twitter created by two french developer: @un_geek and @paraboul. To connect, no need to register your Twitter ID will suffice.
Like many instant chat system, Tweeroom uses rooms. To create a room, it is simple. Simply enter an address type http://tweeroom.com/~nom_du_salon (example: I can create a room at http://tweeroom.com/~selimtavux). The new lounge will be on stored on the Tweeroom homepage, other users can then join you.
Tweeroom also allow to tweet that you are in a room or quoting phrases spoken by the participants on your Twitter profile.
I have already talked about the Twitter community website in a previous article. Twitter is a community site for microblogging. Everyone shares what it does. A good way of providing links, information (useful or not). Twitter has served as the main media of information during the riots in Iran after the elections (#iranelection).
As the title of this article say, Twitter may be related to a galaxy. By the number of members which doesn’t stop growing, but also by the number of applications and websites that revolve around it. We will study some of them in this article to give you an idea.
On the site Tavux.com, it is proposed to provide services related to Ubuntu. To promote these services, I decided to get registered on the Ubuntu Marketplace where listed companies offering similar services.
And this morning, I received an email beginning with these lines:
Dear Selim,
It is our pleasure to welcome Tavux to the Ubuntu Marketplace, a growing network of companies that provide local support for desktops and servers running Ubuntu.
Yeah! Tavux is now listed among the companies of Ubuntu Marketplace for France!
Maybe you’ve seen the pie chart on the sidebar of this blog for few weeks?
These are the statistics for my presence on the web: my Geek Chart.
Explanation : By registering on the site http://www.geekchart.com/, I can create such statistics if I indicate my IDs for sites like Twitter, Youtube, Flickr and others. For example, at the time this article was writting, my statistics show different percentages for sites Twitter, Lastfm and my blog.
Interest Geek Chart is multiple:
A personal appreciation of publications you do on the Web;
Allow your visitors to know all the sites where you publish (Ah, I did not know he was also on Twitter).
The blog is now visible from Iphones, Blackberry and Android mobile phones! Indeed, a specific version of this site with a light appearance is available for these devices.
Looking for a laptop which is very mobile (small in weight and size) and inexpensive, I began to look at these machines that have become popular: the netbooks.
Navigating from links to links I found a great revolution for your Firefox web browser: Personas. But what is Personas? This is a new way (by Mozilla Lab) to customize the look of your browser.
This is not like standard themes that will change the whole appearance but actually static (background color, buttons, etc..), Personas will just change the “background” of your browser with an image. You can try using the gallery available on the site or create your own!
Note that the site is very well done. After installing Personas (this is a simple add-on), you can see what your browser can look with a theme of the gallery: As long as the mouse is on the preview image of a Personas theme, your browser instantly takes the colors of this theme!
Stop talking. I let you discover what it is through this video:
But why the blog change there color (mainly black)!! It is no taste, I can reassure you …
In fact, it is to protest against the Blackout, which would take place on the net in France if the law “Creation & Internet” or law Hadopi (initiated by the Culture Ministry) had to pass.
The illegal downloading is a bad thing. Spy every surfer but assuming in advance that is suspect is something so dramatic and not less bad.
This kind of behavior from the government is totally dangerous for individual freedoms. It is unacceptable that our fundamental freedoms (the presumption of innocence and respect for private life) are put in peril for money matters!
Contrary to what I wrote in one of my previous articles, the new version of Ubuntu-Manager will not be available for the release of the new Ubuntu 9.04. Indeed, this version of Ubuntu was released today and the development of my application has not progressed …
Nevertheless, the project is far from being dead and I will work on this project during the month of May and a version adapted to the new Ubuntu 9.04 should be ready this weekend.
